Exporting your data

What you can export

From Settings → Data & Privacy → Request data export, you can download a ZIP file containing:

• All client records (name, email, type, notes)
• All document requests and their items
• All uploaded document metadata (file names, upload dates)
• Activity log
• Audit trail

Note: Actual document files are not included in the export for size reasons. Contact support if you need bulk file download.

PIPEDA compliance

Canadian clients have the right to request access to their personal information under PIPEDA. The data export covers all personal information idutax holds about your clients.

If a client requests their data, you can run a client-specific export by going to their Client Detail page and using the export option there.

Deleting your account

Go to Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete account.

After requesting deletion:

• Your account enters a 30-day grace period
• You can cancel deletion during this period
• After 30 days, all data is permanently deleted from our systems
• Backups are purged within 14 days of the grace period ending

We cannot recover data after permanent deletion. Download your export before deleting.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active plus 30 days after cancellation. Tax professionals in Canada are required to retain records for 6 years — plan your data export accordingly if you cancel.
